CPR and siezures
There was a story yesterday that in NJ a student did CPR on a teacher who had a siezure and he is being regarded as a hero...here is the facts...YOU DON"T DO CPR on someone having a siezure/convulsions.....
I called the station and told them they needed to change what they were saying because maybe one in a thousand siezures do you need to do CPR, haven't fully found out yet if this was the case but the news was reporting the info as if all siezures require CPR:banghead: Of course they didn't!!!!!! He is lucky he didn't kill her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doing CPR on someone with a pulse can stop the heart I teach this stuff and come across people who have no idea, especially after they take a course from the military company that everyone thinks is the authority!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So for all you that don't know here is a quick lesson....ABC A= Asses check pulse and breathing B =Breathe C=Compress Repeat as nessesary If they are not breathing, breath for them, make the chest rise, if it doesn't tilt the head and remove the tongue(attached to lower jaw tilting the head removes the tongue from the airway, if still doesn't go in, something is in there and blocking... sit accross the thighs and push on the stomache (abdominal thrusts) basically you are shoving the stomache under the ribs...a.k.a. Heimlich...do it till it works...infants do back blows while holing them upside down! Once you get the chest to rise check for the pulse if there is a pulse continue breathing about once every two - three seconds...pace yourself... If no pulse put the heel of your hand in the middle of the chest on the sternum... (bone in the middle of the chest that connects the ribs on each side) Try to push with one hand on the sternum and with the other hand (fingers) put them on the pulse point in the neck make sure when you push you create a pulse. might break a rib that's okay, they are not breathing and they do not have a pulse they are clinically dead! Once deep enough go back to two hands on the sternum.... Push on the chest 5x's for everyone..go back to A and asses if no pulse breath make chest rise, no pulse create one....continue till relief, recovery or exhaustion... New numbers going into affect (most companies use books and videos, will take about a year or so) 2 breaths and 20 compressions, this is too much will exhaust a person quickly, (but hey who am I?) infants 1 and under 2 breaths 15 compressions (infants use two fingers on the sterum at nipple line across the chest) So there is a quick lesson in CPR, as far as convulsions/siezures go, move everything out of their way, call 911, time it, then when they stop check for breathing, pulse, bleeding and roll them to the side..... Basics of CPR keeping the body, especially the brain, oxygenated... Hope none of you have to ever use this...but take note...Recovery has to do with why they went down..massive heart attack?...best doctors, top facillities will not be able to save them...remember CPR quatantees they make it to the hospital, doesn't quatantee recovery Questions? Email me, want a copy of a first aid book that is basicaly done? email me, It is a first aid book that takes Laws into consideration, Like I said I teach companies, they have to worry about lawsuites first then helping the person, don't like that attitude? Thank a Lawyer!!!!!!!!!! Yes the book is free, no pics yet, that's why it's not published yet...Also I had to make a video of a class for some people when this is done I'll make it available...no fee!!!! it'll be about an hour long. Take a class just please stay away from the large company that is in trouble again for missing money and donations...they are gov/military and they screw everyone up with their "help" |
Re: CPR and siezures
Your not even supposed to touch someone while they are having a seizure. The only thing you really supposed to do is move stuff out of the way and if you can cushion their head.

Hah, hah, ha! OK the subject is not funny, but by the title I thought this thread had to do with another alphabet soup conspiracy (CFR, etc.) and gold confiscation.:rofl::haha:
